MARINELLI, James M. 57, Of Boynton Beach FL, an Officer with the Palm Beach County School District Police Dept. passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2017. He was the loving father of Matthew and Scott Marinelli of FL. Son of Ann and Peter Marinelli of Belmont. Brother of Mark Marinelli of Alexandria VA and Paul Marinelli of Arlington. Dear cousin of Emily Cook of Park City UT and best friend of Steve Grenier of FL He is also survived by the mother of his sons, Lisa. Born in Arlington, Jim was raised and educated in Belmont and attended the New Prep School in Cambridge. A graduate of UMASS receiving a Bachelor’s Degree as well as a Master’s Degree from Anna Maria College. An avid hockey player in his youth, Jim formed an adult hockey team when relocating to Florida. He began his lifelong career in law enforcement in Chatham and then with Law Enforcement agencies in Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach and the Palm Beach State College Police Academy. Jim was also the Assistant Director of the Indian River Community College Police Academy and later the Director of the Palm Beach County Police Academy. In addition to his law enforcement expertise, Jim was an experienced educator teaching in South Florida Universities, including Keiser University where he currently held a teaching position. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Common St., Belmont on Saturday April 22, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Through Jim’s career in law enforcement and education, he has had a positive influence in the lives of many. He was a loving father, a great educator as well as a good friend.
